If your business runs on TSC or Godex printers, you likely chose them for their incredible value proposition: Industrial performance at a desktop price.
These “Taiwanese Titans” are workhorses in logistics, retail, and light manufacturing. But when it comes to buying ribbons, their flexibility can actually be confusing.
Unlike Zebra (which strictly separates Desktop 74m rolls and Industrial 450m rolls), TSC and Godex often blur the lines.
Most desktop printers (like the TSC TTP-244 Pro or Godex G500) have a unique feature: They can take 300-meter ribbons on a 1-inch core.
Why this matters: A 300m roll is much cheaper per meter than a standard 74m desktop roll.
The Trap: If you order a standard “Desktop Ribbon” (0.5-inch core) for a machine designed for 1-inch cores, it won’t fit the spindle.
Standard Desktop (0.5″ Core): Usually holds 74m to 110m. Good for low volume.
Advanced Desktop (1″ Core): Holds 300m. This is the sweet spot for cost savings.
Industrial (1″ Core): Holds 450m to 600m.
For Shipping Labels (4×6):
Only Imaging Standard Wax.
Recommendation: Buy the 110mm x 300m roll. It is the universal standard for these printers and offers the lowest cost per label.
For Product Labels (Silver/Poly):
Only Imaging Wax/Resin (N809).
TSC and Godex printheads handle high heat well, making them great for printing durable asset tags with our N809 formulation.
Only Imaging ribbons are 100% compatible with:
TSC: TTP-244 Pro, TE200, ME240, MH240 series.
Godex: G500, RT700, ZX400 series.
You bought a cost-effective printer; now buy cost-effective consumables. Don’t let “Brand Name” ribbons eat your margins.
