Ribbons for Avery Dennison (Monarch): Protecting Your Printhead
In the apparel and retail supply chain, Avery Dennison (Monarch) is the gold standard. Their tabletop printers (like the ADTP1 or the classic 9855) are designed to churn out thousands of hang tags and price stickers per hour.
However, Avery printheads are notoriously expensive to replace.
If you use a cheap, gritty wax ribbon, you will sandpaper the printhead, leading to “dead pixels” (white lines) on your barcodes.

1. Near Edge Technology (Again!)
Many high-end Avery printers (like the ADTP1) utilize Near Edge printheads to achieve high speeds on thick cardstock tags.

The Requirement: You need a NET (Near Edge Technology) Wax/Resin.

The Warning: Do not use a standard flat-head ribbon. It will cause heat buildup and premature head failure.
2. The “Back-Coating” Difference
The back of the ribbon (the side touching the printhead) is just as important as the ink side. Only Imaging uses a premium Silicone-Based Back-Coating for our Avery-compatible series.

3. Applications: Apparel Tags
Avery printers are mostly used for clothing tags (Hang Tags).

Smudge Resistance: The print must survive being thrown into bins and handled by customers.
