Printing Tire Vulcanization Labels: The Ultimate Heat Test
Of all the industries Only Imaging serves, Tire Manufacturing is arguably the most demanding.
Tire labels fall into two categories:

Tread Labels: Applied after the tire is made (Retail info).

Vulcanization Barcode Labels: Applied before the tire is cooked. This is the challenge.
What is Vulcanization?
In tire manufacturing, the “Green Tire” (uncured rubber) is placed in a mold and subjected to extreme heat (up to 200°C) and massive pressure to cure the rubber and form the tread pattern.
The barcode label must be applied to the Green Tire and go through this cooking process. It must emerge from the mold:

Still readable (no smearing).

Still white (no yellowing/burning).

Permanently bonded to the rubber tire wall.
The “Vulcanization-Proof” Ribbon
You cannot use a standard Resin ribbon here. The heat will vaporize it, and the pressure will distort it.
You need Only Imaging’s Specialized Vulcanization Resin.
Key Technical Features:

Heat Resistance: Stable up to 250°C for short durations during the curing cycle.

Chemical Bonding: The resin ink is designed to cross-link with the specialized top-coating of the vulcanization label.

Pressure Tolerance: The ink won’t “bleed” or distort under the high pressure of the tire mold.
Tread Labels (Post-Mold)
Once the tire is finished, it needs a colorful brand label on the tread for the showroom. These labels are often rough and uneven.

Requirement: A extremely “gummy” Wax/Resin that can flow into the rough texture of the label surface.
