In the construction industry, materials like steel beams, lumber stacks, and concrete blocks sit outdoors for months. They are dragged by forklifts, rained on, and baked in the sun.
A simple paper label won’t last 5 minutes.
Construction suppliers use Tag Stock (thick Tyvek or Valeron tags) stapled or wired to the product. But a durable tag needs durable ink.
Lumber tags are stapled to the end of wood stacks.
The Problem: Moisture. Wood contains moisture, and rain adds more.
The Solution: Only Imaging Outdoor Wax/Resin.
It penetrates the synthetic fibers of the tag stock, ensuring the barcode is readable even if the tag gets soaked in mud.
Steel is often tagged while still hot or stored in scorching stockyards.
The Problem: Heat and abrasion. Rebar bundles grind against each other during transport.
The Solution: Only Imaging Heavy-Duty Resin.
It offers extreme scratch resistance. We recommend printing on Polyimide or Polyester tags for high-heat steel applications.
Pallets of concrete are wrapped and tagged. The dust from concrete is abrasive (like sandpaper).
The Problem: Concrete dust gets into the printer and on the label surface.
The Solution: Using a High-Resin Ribbon with excellent “rub resistance” ensures the text doesn’t sand off during transport.
Just like in horticulture, construction materials face UV exposure.
Recommendation: Always choose a Black Resin with UV inhibitors for any tag that will be stored outdoors for more than 3 months.
Your product is built to last. Your tracking tag should be too. Whether it’s wood, steel, or stone, Only Imaging has a heavy-duty ribbon solution.
