There is nothing more classic than a gold-stamped logo on a leather notebook or a luxury shoe insole.
But Leather (and Faux Leather/PU) is a flexible material. It bends, stretches, and flexes. If you use a standard “Graphic Arts” foil (designed for rigid paper), the gold stamp will crack as soon as the leather bends.
You need Only Imaging’s Flexible Leather Series.
Paper foils are brittle. Leather foils must be elastic. Our formulation allows the metallic layer to stretch microscopically with the material, ensuring the logo remains unbroken even when the notebook cover is opened and closed thousands of times.
Leather has texture (grain).
Fine Detail Foil: Good for smooth surfaces, but might break up on rough grain.
Medium/Broad Area Foil: Needed for deep grain leather. It needs to “flow” into the valleys of the texture to create a solid, continuous gold look.
Genuine Leather: Can take high heat. Requires a foil that bonds to natural fibers.
PU (Polyurethane): Heat sensitive! If you stamp too hot, you melt the material texture. Our Low-Temperature PU Foil activates at just 90°C-100°C to preserve your material’s look.
From Moleskine-style journals to luxury leather goods, the stamp is the finishing touch. Make sure it moves with the material.
