Discover how Only Imaging provides professional TTR solutions to global partners.
The modern fulfillment center is no longer driven entirely by humans with handheld scanners. In 2026, facilities rely on Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and automated drone fleets to conduct inventory cycle counts and route pallets.
These robots navigate the warehouse aisles at high speeds, using integrated machine-vision cameras to scan pallet barcodes from distances of up to 15 feet, often while moving.
However, automation architects are discovering a frustrating bottleneck. The robots frequently report “No-Read” errors on perfectly printed barcodes. The problem is not the robot’s camera, and it is not the printer. The problem is light reflection caused by the ink.
Many standard wax/resin and resin ribbons on the market are formulated with glossy polymer binders. When these ribbons print a barcode, the black bars have a highly reflective, shiny finish.
When an AMR points its scanning laser or LED flash at a pallet wrapped in clear stretch film, the bright warehouse overhead lights interact with the glossy ink. This creates “specular reflection” or glare. The robot’s camera gets blinded by the reflection, interpreting the black bar as a white space, resulting in an immediate scan failure.
To ensure compatibility with high-speed machine vision and AMR technology, the contrast ratio of the barcode must be absolute, regardless of the lighting angle.
Only Imaging engineers specific High-Opacity, Matte-Finish formulations for advanced automated environments.
Light-Absorbing Pigments: Our engineering team utilizes a specialized carbon dispersion technique that results in a deeply matte finish. Instead of reflecting the warehouse lighting, the black bars absorb the light, providing maximum contrast against the white label background.
High Edge Definition: The formulation prevents thermal bleeding, ensuring the edges of the barcode are razor-sharp. This allows high-speed AMR cameras to capture and decode the image in milliseconds, even if the robot is moving at top speed.
You cannot maximize the ROI of a multi-million-dollar robotics installation if the robots cannot read your labels. Equip your logistics operations with consumables engineered for machine vision.
